3rd Annual Town of Yates Street Dance is Friday, August 23rd, 5-9pm

The Town of Yates is pleased to welcome people to the 3rd Annual Street Dance this Friday, August 23rd, from 5-9pm. The festivities will be held on Main Street in the Village of Lyndonville which will be closed to traffic from Maple Road to Eagle Street starting at 4pm.

"We are very excited to work with the village to host our 3rd street dance on Main Street," said Town Councilwoman Susan Hrovat, the event coordinator. "Join us for good music and dancing, card games and a bounce house, and enjoy some fun, food and fellowship with family, friends and neighbors."

Live music will be played by a local band, the Guzinyas, and there will be food trucks, craft vendors and more. The event is free, and there will be tables and chairs on the street as well as plenty of room for dancing. All are welcome.

TOWNS OF YATES AND SOMERSET ANAEROBIC DIGESTER
PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDY FINAL REPORT

In 2021, the Towns of Yates and Somerset (Yates/Somerset) commissioned a high-level scoping study about using anaerobic digestion (AD) to produce renewable energy and other co-products from dairy manure. The study concluded there is "Significant Technical Potential" for an AD project, given the estimated farm number and herd size of the dairy farms found in the general area.

Yates/Somerset subsequently commissioned this pre-feasibility study to better evaluate
how AD produces renewable energy and other valuable co-products.

FEMA officials will present new flood maps in Orleans County at Oct. 12 meeting.

FEMA officials and representatives from the state Department of Environmental Conservation will present the maps and will take input from the public from 3 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Hoag Library, 124 South Main St., Albion.

Grand Finale Lake Fair Celebrating Town of Yates' 200th Anniversary!

On Saturday, September 24th, the Town of Yates will celebrate its bicentennial with the last of its three fairs - the "Grand Finale Lake Fair." The event will be from 1pm-6pm at the Yates Town Park at the northern terminus of Morrison Rd on Lake Ontario, and will be free admission to all.

Second of Three Fairs Celebrating Town of Yates' 200th Anniversary!

On Friday, August 19th, the Town of Yates will celebrate its bicentennial with the second of its three fairs, dubbed by committee coordinator Joanne Suhr as, "A Street Fair." The event, 5pm-9pm on Main Street in Lyndonville between Maple and Eagle Streets, will be free admission to all.

Eleven Petitioners File Appeal with Supreme Court Appellate Division Against NY State Office of Renewable Energy Siting Regulations


On August 2, 2022, eleven petitioners filed an appeal against the NY State Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) regarding the drafting and implementation of regulations, standards and conditions for siting industrial-scale wind and solar facilities under the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth and Community Benefit Act.

RESOLUTION TO CLOSE TOWN PARK


WHEREAS, the Town of Yates is in the process of making upgrades to the Town Park through REDI Grant funds, be it RESOLVED, that, for safety reasons, the Town of Yates Park will be closed to the public commencing October 18, 2021, until further notice, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk will publish notice of the closure on the town website and in the town hall, and that Keeler Construction will post closure signs at the town park and place barricades as needed.

The International Joint Commission has created a survey for property owners along Lake Ontario to provide information that could lead to revisions to the agency's lake level management plan. I encourage you to share the survey with anyone in your community who may have been impacted by the high water levels so that the IJC can understand the full extent of damage done over the past few years and hopefully improve their lake management systems.

The Town of Yates is exploring how best to take advantage of the $2.531 million dollar grant awarded for the Yates Town Park by the NY State Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Commission.

The next Yates Town Park Task Force Project meeting will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 5-7pm, Lyndonville Village Hall. The meeting is open to the public, but it is a workshop where only task force members will be allowed to participate. Citizens who want to meet with task force members after the meeting to express their ideas and concerns will be welcome to do so.

LAKE ONTARIO LAKESHORE FUND RELIEF GRANT PROGRAM WEBPAGE AVAILABLE NOW:

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo pledged up to $20 million to assist homeowners directly impacted by historic Lake Ontario flooding in 2019.

Homeowners residing in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, St. Lawrence and Wayne counties are eligible to receive up to $50,000 in state funding to help offset damages to their primary residence.




NEW YORK STATE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION PROPOSES INCREASES IN THEIR ELECTRIC AND GAS RATES
In May 2019, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E) proposed increases in their electric and gas rates to take effect in April 2020. The Commission has scheduled public hearings on the Companies' proposal. The hearings are open to the public who wish to participate and comment.

YATES TOWN SUPERVISOR CALLS FOR REMOVAL OF LIGHTHOUSE WIND PROPOSAL FROM ARTICLE 10 PROCESS IN LIGHT OF APEX ANNOUNCEMENT
In light of Apex Clean Energy's announcement on April 11,2019, that they will not submit an Article 10 application for Lighthouse Wind in 2019, the Yates Town Supervisor is calling upon Apex to completely remove their project from the Article 10 proceedings.
