TOWN OF YATES BOARD MEETING 

 

SEPTEMBER 11,2008

 

The  meeting was called to order by the Supervisor at 7:00 P.M.,at The Town of Yates Town Hall 8 South Main Street, Lyndonville, NY 14098

Privledge of The floor.

 

Gary Bartikofsky-lake property owner asked about dog control. Stated he is working on a petition to have signed and presented to the  Town Board at the October meeting asking for a referendum on a Leash law for the Town.

 

Supervisor Martino stated that the Town Board would accept the petition and review it .

 

David Schubel, Town Attorney stated he would check into the possibility of a referendum, but doesn’t know if this would be allow.

 

RESOLUTION NO.91-9/08

 

RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT MINUTES

 

RESOLVED, to accept the minutes of the August 14,2008 Board Meeting as presented to the Board.

RESOLUTION NO. 92-9/08

 

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE JUSTICE TO FILE GRANT APPLICATION

 

WHEREAS, Applications for grants for the Court system are available for next year

 

BE IT RESOLVED, the Justices of  the Town of Yates are hereby authorized to file for a grant for the Town of Yates Court system, in an amount not to exceed $15,000.00.

RESOLUTION NO.93-9/08

 

RESOLUTION TO ADVERTISE FOR AND HIRE A PART-TIME LABORER

 

WHEREAS, there is a need for a part-time laborer to paint fire hydrants, work in the park and other miscellaneous jobs, be it

 

RESOLVED, the Clerk shall place a help wanted ad in the Journal Register that will run for 3 days September 17,18 and 19 and be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, applications will be accepted until 4:30 P.M. on September 24,2008

Report of Town Officers

 

Dan Wolfe-Code and Zoning

Report-4 inspections 10 drive by inspections 3 building permits

Checked on excavation on Millers Road by Canning Company-has no permit for any construction.  Dan said he knew that Doug had discussed a new pond with the Canning Co.  before Dan started working for the Town of Yates

 

Supervisor Martino would like Dan to contact Doug and investigate the situation.

 

Shelly Harling-Assessor

Received information from County on the Cold War exemption. There are 3 different levels that can be adopted.

 

Supervisor Martino stated that the Board will review information that the Assessor gave them and put it on the agenda for the October meeting.

 

Councilman Bentley asked what is the Cold War

 

Shelly Harling explained it would be any veterans that served their Country between September 1945 and December 26,1991

 

Shelly stated that New York State is requesting that data mailers be sent out in March.  These mailers will have information about the homes and properties and the currant assessments.  If there are no changes the property owner needs to do nothing.  If there are changes they should be mailed back to the Assessor.

 

Town of Yates STAR rebates checks should be sent October 13,2008  Enhances Star will receive 446.27.  income up to 90,000 will receive 404.10, over 90,000 up to 150,000 will receive 303.08- over 150,000 up to 250,000 will receive 202.05

 

Roger Wolfe-Highway and Water Superintendent

 

Will be sealing roads next week.

 

We have received word from the Health Department that property owners can start hooking up to water in Phase VIII.  Letters should be sent to property owners.
