 The regular meeting  was called to Order by the Supervisor at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall 8 South Main Street, Lyndonville NY

RESOLUTION NO.28 -2/09

 

RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF  January 8,2009   

 

RESOLVED, to accept the minutes of the January 8,2009  as presented to each Board Member.

Whereas  the Board has discussed the cleaning of the Town Hall that is being done by ARC, The Town has decided it will no longer employ the services of ARC for cleaning. 

 

RESOLUTION NO.29-2/09

 

RESOLUTION TO STOP SERVICES FOR CLEANING OF TOWN HALL BUILDING

 

WHEREAS, the services of ARC are no longer needed for the cleaning of the Town Hall,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that a letter will be sent to ARC canceling their cleaning servise affective March 1, 2009.

Supervisor Martino received a letter from Smoke Free Now, a coalition to reduce tobacco use. They have asked that a resolution be made to support encouraging retailers to voluntarily reduce their advertising of tobacco products.

 

RESOLUTION NO.30-2/09

 

RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT SMOKE FREE NOW

 

WHEREAS, the Orleans County Retailer Survey results of 2006 found that 62% of tobacco retailers in Orleans County display outdoor tobacco advertising, and

 

WHEREAS, the Orleans County Retailers Survey results of 2006 found that 85% of tobacco retailers in Orleans County displayed indoor tobacco advertising,

 

WHEREAS the Wyoming County Retailers Survey results of 2006 found that 71% of tobacco retailers in Wyoming County displayed outdoor advertising and

 

WHEREAS, the Wyoming County Retailer Survey results of 2006 found that 96% of tobacco retailers in Wyoming County displayed indoor tobacco advertising

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that The Town of Yates hereby expresses its support of the efforts of Smoke Free Now and Reality Check encouraging retailers to reduce overall tobacco advertising in their place of business and to eliminate tobacco advertising from areas likely to be seen by children, including wall space below five feet, near candy displays and on counter tops.

Report of Town Officers

 

Code and Zoning- Making  some drive by inspections and issuing building permits

 

Assessor- people are coming in for exemptions. Only 4 people have applied for the cold war veterans exemption. Will be taking more schooling in March

 

Highway Superintendent- Culvert on Hall Road has washed out with all the thawing.

WHEREAS, all vouchers have been reviewed and approved by the Town Board

RESOLUTION NO.32-2/09

 

RESOLUTION TO APPROVE JUNKYARDS FOR THE TOWN OF YATES

 

WHEREAS, Junkyard applications have been received from Paul Lauricella, Roosevelt Highway, Terry Chaffee, Murdock Road and Debrah (Dunn) Martin , Goodwin Road, and

 

WHEREAS, the Code enforsement officer has inspected all the Junkyards, be it

 

RESOLVED, that Paul Lauricella-Roosevelt Highway Lyndonville NY, Terry Chaffee, Murdock Road, Lyndonville NY, and Debra (Dunn) Martin all be issued renewals for their junk yards.
