Privilege of the Floor

Slawomir Majorowski-presented the Town Board with a letter  requesting to look at primary bills.  This letter is attached to the official minutes.

Mrs. Laurecella brought up the information that was on the State Comptrollers web site that listed parks.

Lynne Johnson, bookkeeper for the Town of Yates explained that  in the annual audit and the State final report the actual  break-down is parks, equipment and capital outlay which would be water projects.

Supervisor Belson read the following letter from Amato,Fox & Company PC our auditors:

It has come to our attention that there is an error on the Town of Yates Annual Update Document for the fiscal year ending 2009.

Page 35 of this report shows a 2008 expenditure of $700,417 under the caption “Parks, Equipment and Capital Outlay”.  In fact this amount was spent not for parks but represents the capital expenditure for all of the water district improvements for 2008.

When filing the report for 2009, the prior year amounts were compressed into the wrong summary accounts.

This letter will be attached to the original minutes.

Mrs. Laurecella asked why the Town of Yates information on the openbook web sight were so high .

The Town Board explained that this was due to water lines going in thru out the complete Town for the last 10 years.

As explained by the letter from the auditors the information was compressed into the wrong summary account.  As far as a correction on the web sight itself this could take some time.
